They met at a church Christmas dance in 1949, went to the New Years Eve dance the next week to bring in the year 1950. This year went by quickly, within six months there was talk of marriage. Yet things needed to be done in order. Vaughns mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was first, as they both agreed. In January 1951 Vaughn leaves for his two year mission. Yvonne continues her schooling at Franklin Hospital and graduates September 6, 1952, then passes the Board of Nurse Eximaniers October 1, 1952 and is a Rigistered Nurse.  Vaughn left Oklahoma January 27, 1953 and Febuary 9, 1953 they were married for Time and Eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Feb. 9, 1953 Part of what made my wedding special was that my Uncle Jimmy played the bagpipes for me. I'm not sure if he did this for anyone else. But I asked if he would and he did. I felt so excited. He wore the kilt and all and marched up and down the cultural hall playing the pipes. I’m not sure everybody was ready for that. But I was thrilled. And dad appreciated it very much that he did that.

I was Thrilled to have him play - He won many cups and many honors playing the bagpipes. He was raised in Scotland, and before he came to this country he was in the Queens Pipe band. I loved to listen to his Scottish brogue. He was a fun uncle, always happy and we always had a good time listening to Uncle Jimmy. Yvonne's Uncle Jimmy married my aunt Katie(Catherine) Black BLYTH. - aunt Katie was oldest of Margaret YOUNG's first marriage, later to marry James KAY (b.1860)
